AMEDEO

BIANCO DI CUSTOZA
denominazione di origine controllata

amedeo bianco di custoza doc

Grape varieties: Garganega 40%, Fernanda 30% (Custoza clone), Trebbiano 15%, Trebbianello 15% (Tocai clone)

Named after the Prince Amedeo di Savoia who was injured in one of the fields, now part of the Cavalchina estate, at the Battle of Custoza in the Third War War of Independence in 1866.
The individual maturation and characteristics of each variety are the essential points for Amedeo, and after years of experience, we believe that we produce a top flight Custoza.
The structure of the Trebbiano and Trebbianello, when harvested ripe, are suitable for barrique ageing. The strong personality of the Garganega is ideal for fermentation and ageing in large Slavonian oak casks of 15-20hl size. In contrast the semi aromatic Fernanda is most suited to stainless steel fermentation.
The grapes are frozen before pressing thus intensifying the aromas, which then evolve during ageing with important mineral notes to the wine.
The blend is made at the end of May and after the wine is given some months ageing in bottles is then released in July.

The average yield is 55hl per ha
